The number of people suffering symptoms associated with long Covid in the UK has now reached more than a million.
The latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) data covering the period to 5 September 2021 revealed 1.1 million people have been suffering long Covid symptoms for more than four weeks.
This compares with 970,000 as of 1 August 2021.
The number of people who had suffered long Covid symptoms for at least 12 weeks rose to 831,000 from 817,000 in early August, while the number of people who said they had Covid for at least a year was also up – to 405,000 from 384,000 in the previous month.
Fatigue continued to be the most common symptom of long Covid (56%), followed by shortness of breath (40%), loss of smell (32%), and difficulty concentrating (31%).
