Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company has appointed Ying Yu as head of sustainability.
Yu was most recently senior vice president at property management firm Prologis where she was responsible for the global environmental, social and governance (ESG) and sustainability strategy and policy implementation across the company’s $148bn global real estate portfolio.
She is charged with building upon MassMutual’s existing efforts and leading the development and implementation of a company-wide ESG strategy.
This will include formally outlining a roadmap for success, implementing relevant programs and operating principles, fostering a culture of sustainability through collaboration and engagement, and communicating about progress internally and externally to key stakeholders.
Yu reports to Geoff Craddock, MassMutual’s chief risk officer.
Craddock said: “Ying is an experienced leader who can guide MassMutual in setting and achieving aspirational ESG goals and concretely making progress against them.
“She will build upon our strong foundational efforts and firmly establish an industry-leading sustainability strategy that aligns with our mutual structure, ensures continued business growth, and enables us to support our policyowners and communities for generations to come.”
