‘Metallica of mortgages’ to focus on protection

The self-confessed ‘Metallica of mortgages’ has vowed to focus on providing protection advice in future and pledged to talk in ‘people language’.

Rhys Schofield, managing director of Peak Money, (pictured) revealed he has stopped providing mortgage advice and will be leaving that to his team of advisers to continue offering.

Instead Schofield, whose look and association with mortgage advice has caused him to be dubbed the Metallica of mortgages, will concentrate on the protection side of the business and be more outspoken on it.

Taking part in a panel debate during Income Protection Awareness Week, Schofield said: “I’m going to be very vocal now.

“So, apologies to my compliance network who already have a job on to stop me from dressing up as Hulk Hogan to talk about ‘mortgages agreement in principle pythons brother’.

“I’m going to focus on the protection side of things. I think we’ve got such a job on to talk to people in people language rather than industry language.

“And I think it’s really important to win new hearts and minds and ensure we’re having the great conversations that we’re having but with more people so we can actually educate them.”
