Protection Guru is launching a dedicated claims hub to support advisers with client conversations.
The free hub brings together data from 16 different insurance companies to provide advisers with a single destination in order to assess a range of claims related information.
It is designed to help advisers have more informed conversations with clients and provide them with the collateral to help handle some of the most common objections relating to insurers not paying out.
This includes:
- Detailed claims statistics dating back to 2012 for life, critical illness and income protection, including, where available, youngest and oldest claimants, average sums assured, largest sums assured and most common reasons for claims
- A detailed analysis of each insurer’s claims process including their claims handlers, how they can be notified, how the claim can be tracked and the ongoing support provided to claimants.
- Real-life claims stories from different insurers for income protection, critical illness and added value benefit services.
Adam Higgs, head of research at Protection Guru, said: “The point of claim is the point where this industry really stands up to be counted.
“We hope that by providing details of claims statistics, processes and stories, advisers will be able to have better and more informed conversations with their clients, find it easier to dispel any misconceptions and ultimately increase consumer confidence.”
Matthew Chapman, director of Plus Financial, added: “The claims hub is a huge step forward in helping advisers to dispel the myth that insurers don’t pay out.
“As advisers, we make recommendations hoping that our clients will never need to claim but we also need to be confident that if and when they do, both the outcome and the claims experience will be a positive one.
“The hub provides advisers with the ability to assess claims handling performance from major UK providers at a glance.”
