Prudential has hired Ross Walker as senior director for health strategy and proposition working out of Hong Kong.
Walker (pictured) was most recently chief commercial officer at Cigna Global Individual Health and based in Dubai.
He worked at Cigna Healthcare for 13 years, starting in Glasgow in 2011. In 2016 he shifted to Hong Kong, where he remained for three years before moving to Dubai.
With more than a decade of experience in the expatriate health insurance market, Walker was one of the founding team members of the GIH segment for Cigna International Health in 2011.
He held multiple roles for Cigna in the UK, Hong Kong and Dubai, including head of strategy and chief of staff for Cigna’s business in the Middle East and Africa until 2022.
Health & Protection reported earlier this month that Walker’s last day with Cigna Healthcare was on 6 September.
Prudential is a multinational insurance company headquartered in both London and Hong Kong.
The company provides life and health insurance and asset management to 18 million customers across 24 markets in Asia and Africa. It is focused on four strategic regions: Greater China, ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations), India and Africa.
Walker said via LinkedIn: “I’m incredibly excited to join Prudential at its Hong Kong HQ and help fulfil the bold ambitions this iconic brand has to become a market leader in health in Asia and Africa.
“The ‘man from the Pru’ promise might have been quite a bit before my time, but I distinctly remember it being talked about growing up.
“That commitment to great service and fulfilling promises through a strong agency force is just as true today as it was then.
“I can’t wait to meet the rest of the team and play my part in creating the next Prudential.”
