Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB) has appointed Alan Richardson to the newly created role of head of protection excellence.
Richardson (pictured) joins from LifeSearch where he spent 12 years – holding the roles of insurance agent, head of business protection and group, head of expert advice and most recently head of product.
Reporting into MAB protection proposition director Andy Walton, the firm said Richardson’s responsibilities include assisting in the development of strategies, plans, and tactics that deliver sustainable revenue growth, profitability and quality outcomes, while ensuring that Consumer Duty sits at the heart of the protection proposition.
He will also work closely with advisers to help embed best practice, improve customer outcomes and aim to support consistent, high-quality protection advice.
Walton said: “Protection advice is more important than ever, and Alan’s experience and focus on quality and Consumer Duty will be instrumental in helping us continue to lead the market.
“Alan brings significant experience in protection distribution and proposition development, and his appointment underlines MAB’s strategic focus on protection as a core pillar of its advice offering.”
Richardson added: “When mortgage brokers provide protection advice, ensuring strong customer outcomes, understanding, and confidence is essential.
“MAB is already doing this incredibly well, and my focus now is building on that success. This includes continuing to embed good outcomes, strengthen protection advice, and help more families and businesses access the cover they need with confidence.”
