Scottish Widows is trialling the use of artificial intelligence (AI) systems with the aim of speeding up life and critical illness insurance claims and underwriting.
Using AI and natural language processing (NLP), the pilot will focus on streamlining claims by reducing processing times and simplifying complex medical documentation.
It will also intends to help underwriters by quickly summarising extensive medical files to enable faster decision-making.
The insurer, which is part of Lloyds Banking Group, is working with Sprout.ai on the services.
