John Dean has joined Secondsight as head of health and protection taking over from Anne Drugnick who had been in the role for the last 11 months.
Health & Protection can reveal that Drugnick is remaining with Secondsight and stepping back to her previous role as partner at the Foster Denovo-owned firm.
She was principal for health and protection at Punter Southall and was appointed head of health and protection of Secondsight following the acquisition and integration of Punter Southall’s employee benefits advisory business in June.
Dean (pictured) joins from Healix where he had been consulting development director since it bought the Halcyon Trustees business in January 2023.
The move is in-effect a return to the Punter Southall Health and Protection business for Dean who spent 12 years there as managing director from 2007 to 2019.
In his more than 30-year career within the health and protection industry Dean’s roles include 18 months as executive director for Howden Insurance Brokers, more than three and a half years as sales and distribution director for Simplyhealth and five years as head of healthcare consulting at Aon Healthcare Consulting.
Commenting on Dean’s arrival, the firm told Health & Protection: “John is bringing his considerable experience in this specialised market to lead health and protection for Secondsight.
“His deep expertise, extensive knowledge and strategic grasp is second-to-none and we’re very pleased he’s joining us to head the health and protection team as demand for our consulting continues to grow.”
When asked about Drugnick’s status, it added: “Anne led Secondsight’s health and protection team as part of the successful process to integrate Punter Southall’s employee benefits advisory business over the last year.
“Having done so, she’s delighted she’s now returning to what she has spent decades excelling at, advising clients on their health and protection needs as the market evolves and demand increases, which is great news for our corporate clients.”
Writing on LinkedIn, Dean said he was delighted to be taking up the position and thanked the team for the opportunity.
Dean added he was “looking forward to joining the team at Secondsight and continuing to build on our proposition of providing premium client service and creative consulting solutions”.
When contacted by Health & Protection, Healix did not wish to comment on Dean’s departure or the continuation of services bought as part of the Halcyon Trustees deal.
