Simplyhealth is offering members discounted access to digitally-enabled private prescribing.

Members can complete an online consultation at any time, without needing an appointment, phone call or video consultation. A qualified clinician reviews each case and, where appropriate, issues a prescription for treatment

The online prescription services, provided by Evaro for Simplyhealth, launches today to all Simplyhealth members across individual, employee-funded and employer-funded plans. From within the Simplyhealth portal or app, members complete a free online consultation, with Evaro’s regulated prescribers reviewing each case and, where appropriate, issue and dispense medication from its in-house pharmacy, and up to 15% off listed-treatment prices. The entire pathway – consultation, prescription, delivery and aftercare – happens in one place, with no need to navigate separate providers.

Launch categories cover women’s health, men’s health, general health, gastrointestinal conditions, weight loss, smoking cessation, allergy and hay fever, and travel health, with dental-infection treatment available to Denplan members. All treatments are prescribed only where an Evaro clinician deems them clinically appropriate.

The service is provided by Evaro, the NHS-licensed digital healthcare platform that has served more than two million patients across 500+ treatments and 80+ conditions. Evaro holds regulatory credentials including CQC and GPhC licenses, with NHS integration enabling GP record access for safer prescribing. Evaro delivers the full pathway in-house – consultation, prescribing, dispensing, delivery and aftercare – and integrates simply into a partner platform.

These services are provided by Evaro for Simplyhealth and are delivered within Simplyhealth’s own platform and runs alongside its existing 24/7 GP and mental health support. All clinical services – consultation, prescribing and dispensing – are provided by Evaro. Treatment costs are claimable only under specific benefits, which vary by plan.

Sonya Bryson, managing director at Simplyhealth, (pictured) said: “We believe everyone should be able to access healthcare when they need it, regardless of how busy their schedule is or the barriers they face in getting an appointment. Many of the conditions people seek treatment for don’t require a face-to-face consultation. They need a safe clinical decision and access to appropriate treatment, quickly.

“Our recent research found that more than half of employees delayed seeking healthcare because accessing care felt too difficult or time-consuming. By introducing online prescription services through the plans our members already have, we’re making it easier to get treatment earlier, in their own time and at a lower cost.”

Dr Thuria Wenbar, CEO and co-founder of Evaro, added: “Thirty years ago you took a morning off work to queue in a bank branch; now you move money in a few seconds from your phone.

“Healthcare is the last part of daily life still built around queues, and the reality is there will never be enough doctors to see everyone face to face.

“We’re proud to be working with Simplyhealth to make accessing treatment faster and easier for its members.

“Digital prescribing can remove many of the barriers associated with traditional healthcare pathways, helping people get clinically appropriate treatment quickly while reducing real pressure off general practice.”
