Spectrum.Life has bought Dr Jay Technology for an undisclosed sum and will use behavioural intelligence from the acquisition to launch an AI mental health companion.

Dr Jay was founded by CEO Anton Vorobev and developed an evidence-based AI therapy companion which was validated in a UK randomised controlled trial (RCT).

By integrating Dr Jay’s technology with Spectrum.Life’s clinical framework, the company will aim to provide human-centred AI mental health support across workplaces, universities, and healthcare providers.

This integration will also see Spectrum.Life launch Cara, a clinically governed digital mental health companion offering guided chat support for everyday wellbeing and emotional balance.

The firm said Cara would escalate cases to 24/7 clinical professionals whenever risk indicators appear, in a bid to ensure safety without compromising human connection.

Built on CE marked medical technology and fully aligned with EU AI Act standards, Cara integrates behavioural intelligence from Dr Jay with Spectrum.Life’s existing AI suite.

Cara will launch on select Spectrum.Life plans from the second quarter of next year.

Anton Vorobev, founder and CEO of Dr Jay, said: “We set out to build AI tools that make care more consistent, more responsive, and more human. Joining with Spectrum.Life lets us realise that vision on a global scale, inside a company that shares our belief in clinically grounded, ethical, human-first technology.

Stephen Costello, CEO and co-founder of Spectrum.Life (pictured), said: “This is a major step forward for Spectrum.Life and for the people we serve.

“Dr Jay’s technology and team strengthen how we use AI to make support more accessible and more personal, without losing the human connection that defines good care.

“Our focus remains on using clinically grounded AI to augment care, not automate it, helping clinicians, coaches, and users achieve better outcomes, together.”
