Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) has appointed senior protection industry leaders Rose St Louis and Peter Hamilton to its board.

The IUAD campaign funds work into research projects to search for a cure for dementia to ensure people affected by it have the support they need for care today.

St Louis, protection director at Lloyds Banking Group and Hamilton, head of market engagement at Zurich join Ian Branagan, executive vice president and group chief risk officer at RenaissanceRe as board appointments.

Richard Dudley, global head of climate strategy at Aon, is taking over as chairman of the organisation from IUAD founder Chris Wallace, who is executive director for continental Europe and UK at QBE.

Dudley has been part of the IUAD board since its 2017 launch and will be leading the next stage of the campaign to reach its ambition of raising £10m by 2025 .

Commenting on her appointment, St Louis (pictured) said: “I am really looking forward to playing my part for IUAD and Alzheimer’s Society as it enters the next stage of the campaign.

“Sadly, hundreds of thousands of people in the UK are estimated to be living with dementia and I’ve seen first-hand how this terrible disease affects both those living with the condition and those caring which made me question how I could make a difference.

“I believe the insurance industry can do more to lean into this issue and I’m honoured to be joining the IUAD board as we push to raise further awareness and funds.”
