The Protect Association marked its 25th anniversary by honouring chairman Steve Devine for the work that he had done to build the association along with his late partner David Taylor.
Looking forward, Devine said the Protect Association would be focussing on: ”Growing our membership and keeping abreast of Consumer Duty and customer experience.”
Speaking at the anniversary event Devine also praised strategic adviser Christopher Brooks and membership manager James Edmonds for the work they have been doing in building back up the association following Taylor’s death.
“I can’t thank Christopher and James enough for the effort that they put in for these last few months,” he said.
“You can feel it already can’t you – you can feel that Protect is getting back to where it was.”
Taylor who died last year was memorialised by renaming the association’s annual golf day as the David Taylor Golf Day.
In his thank you speech, an emotional Devine said: “What really touches me is that all you guys have taken time out to come here today.”
Devine also said: “I just wanted to mention David Taylor, who was our accountant and also a fellow West Ham fan.
“I just wish he was here today.”
Devine continued: “Its not always easy to go back and sort of recreate a situation that you had. We’re all getting older and we all have different things affecting us.
“Its just so pleasing to know that it meant something, and that it meant so much that we could actually try to recreate it.
“And we have people with this expertise that can actually help our members do the right thing for their customers and basically succeed.
“Because if you do that and get it right you succeed”.
“That’s what its all about for me with Protect – to treat your customers as if they were family and treat them properly, and everything will work out for the company.”
