Teladoc has managed to more than treble the number of its AIG Life clients who reported good mental health after four of the provider’s therapy sessions.

Taking part in an AIG Life webinar, Teladoc Health UK & Ireland clinical psychologist and head of mental health services Laura Scarrone Bonhomme (pictured) revealed the findings of a study of 270 AIG Life clients conducted during 2021.

Participants who were aged between 18 and 63 completed a questionnaire which posed 10 questions to gauge their overall wellbeing at the start and end of four therapy sessions.

Scarrone Bonhomme noted that at the start of their sessions just 19% of clients made up the healthy group, with 46% reporting to be in mild to moderate psychological distress and 35% in moderately severe to severe distress.

However, at the end of the sessions 63% were in the healthy group, with 33% in the mild to moderate distress group and just 6% in the most severe group.

In January, AIG Life renewed its contract with Teladoc Health to deliver its Smart Health service for a further four years.

At the time the firm said the early renewal of the contract followed growing demand from employers, with the service used more than 22,000 times in 2021 – double that of 2020.
