Teresa Wighton is stepping down as global sales excellence director at Bupa Global.
Wighton (pictured picking up a Health & Protection Award in 2022) joined the firm as UK group sales director in October 2017 from Punter Southall where she was head of international healthcare consulting.
Over her career, she has also held roles as head of international at Aviva, head of corporate sales at PruHealth and is a former director of client management Europe at Cigna.
Taking to LinkedIn to announce her departure, Wighton reflected on a “fabulous” period in her career, adding she was proud of what she and her team had achieved in this time.
“Having joined back in 2017, I’ve led several high-profile projects and roles – this has included reenergising the SME proposition in the UK market, leading the transition of two books of business from insurers who exited the UK IPMI market, and stepping in as interim general manager for UK & Africa at a time when the business was going through significant change,” Wighton said.
“Throughout my time, it’s been a privilege to lead a fantastic group of people who are genuinely passionate about what Bupa Global stands for,” she continued.
“And most recently in my role of global sales excellence, I leave a team who are driving continuous improvement and laying the foundations of a sales culture which supports people to be their very best.”
Looking ahead, Wighton said this was the first time in her career she has had the opportunity to take a short career break.
“Making that decision is never easy, but one that feels right for me,” she added.
“I have set myself a personal challenge and I will be walking the South Downs Way in a couple of weeks time! I will be walking 100 miles from Winchester to Eastbourne enjoying being out in the fresh air nature and plenty of thinking time.”
