The Exeter has appointed Ali Law as chief information officer and Toby Bainbridge to the newly created role of head of insurance solutions.
Law was a former group head of digital transformation at Royal London and was most recently, managing partner at Hayna Partners.
His career has involved working closely with businesses to help them to modernise their technology offerings, and to understand the implications of digital transformation, and the positive impact of people, relationships and trust in the technology space.
Law will lead The Exeter’s IT department and serve on the executive committee.
Bainbridge joins from 1 April in the newly created role and will report to the company’s commercial director, Michael Payne.
Before joining The Exeter, Bainbridge held senior positions at insurance firms including Royal London, LV=, Munich Re, and Legal & General.
During his most recent role at LV=, he served as director of protection, where he was responsible for various teams including proposition development, reinsurance, underwriting and claims philosophy.
Prior to joining LV=, Bainbridge spent seven years at Legal & General where he was primarily accountable for reinsurance, before moving to Royal London in 2015, initially taking on reinsurance and later appointed head of protection solutions.
The new insurance solutions team will combine The Exeter’s existing underwriting philosophy, data, claims philosophy, and reinsurance teams into one – providing greater alignment and strategic direction under the leadership of Bainbridge and commercial director Michael Payne.
Isobel Langton, CEO at The Exeter, (pictured) said: “I am delighted to welcome Ali and Toby to The Exeter in their respective roles at what continues to be an exciting time for us.
“They bring a wealth of experience and knowledge with them that will further strengthen key areas of our business to help us deliver our future strategy and provide exceptional experiences for our members and advisers.”
Law said: “The Exeter’s commitment to leveraging new technologies to help drive future growth is something that aligns with my passion for innovation and business transformation.
“I am excited to be joining a strong team and to seeing how we can further develop our technology capabilities in the future.”
Bainbridge added: “The opportunity to lead a newly established team in an innovative company such as The Exeter is truly exciting.
“I am looking forward to contributing my expertise in underwriting and reassurance to deliver the best possible experiences and outcomes for customers – something that the insurance solutions team will play a key role in helping to achieve.”
