The Exeter has appointed Michael Payne as commercial director.
Payne (pictured) joins from KPMG, where he was a director in its insurance consulting practice.
He was previously customer and innovation COO and customer and distribution CFO at M&G, and portfolio actuarial and operations director at Prudential Assurance and was also actuarial director at Scottish Friendly earlier in his career.
He also joins The Exeter’s main and executive boards.
He is a current non-executive director at Glasgow Clyde College, and previously held non-executive director roles at M&G Wealth Advice, Prudential International Assurance and was a member of Prudential’s independent governance committee.
Isobel Langton, CEO of The Exeter, said she was pleased to welcome Payne.
“His wealth of knowledge and experience make him a valuable addition to both the board and our wider leadership team,“ she said.
“What’s more, Michael’s customer focus and passion for the mutual sector align perfectly with our values, and he will play a key role in helping us to deliver our future growth strategy.”
Payne said he was looking forward to working with the team and its long-term growth aspirations.
He added: “Some of my most enjoyable and rewarding experiences have been while working in the mutual sector, particularly my time at Scottish Friendly.”
