The Exeter has appointed Suzy Esson as chief operating officer (COO) from Holloway Friendly.
With the creation of the chief operating officer role, Claire Hird will move from her current position as customer service director to become head of outsourced operations.
Esson joins The Exeter from Holloway Friendly where she was chief operating officer and a member of the board, leading several of its operational functions including underwriting, claims, member and adviser servicing.
At The Exeter will join both the board of directors and the executive leadership team, leading multiple teams with a focus on enhancing customer experience and supporting business transformation.
These include customer service teams including underwriting and claims, as well as its change teams.
Esson has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry having worked at Capita Life and Pensions for more than 14 years, leaving as a business development manager in 2017.

Esson added she was excited to be joining the insurer.
