‘Try and get me off the stage now’ – 2024 Apprentice candidate and Protection Forum speaker Raj Chohan

The issue for Apprentice 2024 candidate, Raj Chohan, has been trying to get her off the stage since presenting at Health & Protection‘s inaugural Protection Forum on the day of The Apprentice final last April.

After an eight-week winning streak on last year’s show, public speaking got the better of Chohan and she was fired following Week 9’s TV sales task which saw her take charge of her team as project manager, opposing a team led by Tre Lowe.

But as The Apprentice returned to our screens last week, mortgage and protection adviser, Chohan, director at Golden Key Financial Services (pictured), spoke to Health & Protection about building confidence around public speaking, the importance of self belief and confidence in achieving success and prioritising family ahead of media opportunities.

Chohan also touched on selling more protection this past year and future plans for delving back into the world of mortgages and protection.

Importance of self belief and confidence

“Regarding speaking publicly, it’s try and get me off the stage,” Chohan says. “I have done speeches and presented awards. It’s been incredible.”

Touching on what she learned about herself on The Apprentice, Chohan reflects: “I really can achieve whatever I put my mind to, through self belief, confidence and so many new techniques I learnt from fellow candidates.”

Prioritising family and work

And while she has had plenty of media opportunities since appearing on the show, family and work remains the priority, Chohan says.

“I would love to say I was at every red carpet event and on every tv channel, however, family and work had to take priority.

“I had the opportunity to go on radio, tv, photoshoot and red carpets but had to turn a lot down.

“While it has been great to raise my personal profile, fame does not equal money so I had to get back to business.

“My standout moment aside from The Apprentice was definitely being invited to 10 Downing Street and meeting the prime minister who was rishi Sunak at the time. Incredible moment.”

Delving back into protection

And looking ahead, Chohan revealed 2025 would be a year in which she would delve back into her mortgage and protection role as she has been occupied by our property developments.

“I enjoy both but nice to have a break and focus on my main bread and butter business,” Chohan continues.

“Also this is my year of self care where my health, fitness and mindset will be given priority as we know the stats on illness and claims. Health has to become priority and to be the best versions of ourselves.”
