Robert Hunter has been appointed president of UnitedHealthcare.
Hunter has been with the healthcare provider since the summer of 2011, joining as an associate for corporate development and holding an array of roles since, most recently as CEO of government programmes.
Revealing his promotion on social media, Hunter said his focus will be on helping to accelerate the group’s modernisation agenda to “achieve a future where healthcare is more connected, easier to navigate and simpler to understand”.
“The future we’re working toward is one where plans and providers work together more seamlessly, information flows instantly, trust is earned through transparency and accountability, and care teams are able to spend more time focused on patients,” he said.
“To get there, we must continue to deliver on the commitments we make to the people, providers, customers, and communities who count on us every day.”
Hunter further maintained that advances in technology, data and care delivery were creating new possibilities to improve healthcare in ways that could not have been imagined just a few years ago.
“It’s an exciting time for our industry and the people we serve,” he continued.
“I am incredibly proud of what our teams have built and wish everyone could see the passion, commitment, and sense of purpose that the exceptional employees across our organisation come to work with every day to help make the healthcare system work better for everyone.”
