Unum UK has launched a cancer support service for employees covered under its group life policy.

The Cancer Assist service offers employees and their family members access to cancer experts via third-party provider Reframe.

Staff from Reframe are available via phone, email and web chat to support employees of Unum’s group life customers during every stage of their cancer journey, focusing on the five pillars of wellbeing: physical, emotional, financial, social and professional.

Catherine McDermott, chief executive of Reframe, said: “Cancer Assist provides in the moment immediate impact to those with questions or queries around cancer and can help support family members too.

“Cancer impacts all aspects of people’s lives, so equipping people with information and support as they navigate the experience of dealing with cancer has a very positive impact on their wellbeing and their ability to return to work.

“Reframe has been supporting people at all stages of their cancer journey for over ten years. We are delighted to be providing this new Cancer Assist support on behalf of Unum.”

Glenn Thompson, chief distribution officer of Unum UK, added: “With cancer dominating as the top reason people make a claim across all of Unum’s group risk products, we wanted to do more to address the needs of customers affected by the disease.”
