Verlingue has bought Cambridge-based employee benefits and financial planning firm EBCam as the first step on its ambition to double the size of its employee benefits business by 2028.

The multinational firm said it showed the commitment to strengthening its employee benefits proposition in the UK across health, protection and wellbeing.

It added that the move was an important step in its continued expansion in the UK employee benefits market and followed the successful integration of Verlingue and Brunsdon Employee Benefits in 2023.

For the first 12 months, EBCam will continue to operate separately as both organisations take a measured approach to onboarding and collaboration, Verlingue said.

Verlingue was founded in France more than 90 years ago and the group employs more than 1,600 people across five European countries: France, the UK, Switzerland, Portugal and Italy, placing more than €3.2bn in premiums annually.

In the UK its 200-strong team operates from six regional offices.

“With shared values, goals and ambitions, the partnership represents a strong cultural fit, and Verlingue looks forward to welcoming the EBCam team into the wider organisation,” the firm said.

It added the acquisition accelerates growth aligned to its Better Future 28 strategic plan and expands its geographical footprint.

Verlingue CEO Mike Latham said: “EBCam is a highly respected consultancy with an experienced team and an impressive portfolio of clients.

“This is an important step in our continued expansion in the UK Employee Benefits market and we are excited about the future ahead as we grow alongside our new colleagues.”

Executive director Seb Merritt added: “Following the successful integration of Brunsdon Employee Benefits in 2023, we have a clear blueprint for sustainable growth in this market.

“Welcoming EBCam is another step forward, bringing great people and specialist expertise into the business and enhancing the support we provide to clients, both now and in the long term.”

EBCam CEO James Bolton said: “We are proud of what the EBCam team has built and excited about what this partnership will mean for our clients and colleagues.

“We look forward to working alongside Verlingue as we continue to deliver excellent outcomes for clients.”
