Wells joins Zurich for third time to lead proposition innovation

Sam Wells has rejoined Zurich for a third spell at the insurer having been appointed to the newly created position of head of proposition innovation.

Zurich said the move was in a bid to grow its protection business and follows the appointment of Nick Erskine as director of distribution.

Wells (pictured) left the insurer two years ago to joined underwriting agency Further in February 2019 where he was director of sales and account management.

His main focus there was to design and develop digital health solutions including treatment and diagnostics for customers.

Prior to that he had spent three years at Zurich as senior proposition manager.

Wells has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry which according to his LinkedIn profile includes four years at Zurich as a medical underwriter from 1998 to 2002.

He has also had spells with Axa, Friends Life and Aviva.

Louise Colley, director of retail protection at Zurich said: “We are delighted to announce that Sam Wells will be joining our team. Sam will play an integral part as we move into the next phase of growing our business.

“This includes designing and delivering innovative new products and services to meet the needs of our customers,” she added.
