William Russell has hired Luca D’Alessio as business development manager (BDM) from Bupa Global, leaving after more than a decade.

The insurer also announced the appointment of Lauren Morris-Chard as senior medical underwriter from Zurich.

D’Alessio joins the William Russell distribution team having most recently been SME account manager at Bupa Global, where he held an array of roles including SME sales consultant, relationship manager and customer service consultant.

Morris-Chard joins from Zurich where she was medical underwriting team manager. She also held medical underwriting roles at Legal & General earlier in her career.

Teresa Wighton, commercial director at William Russell, said: “We’re thrilled Luca is on board and brings with him over nine years of experience in international healthcare, having focused on both direct and broker sales and account management.

“He is a great addition to the team as we look to increase our engagement with brokers globally.

“With the launch of our new propositions, we’ve been deliberate in choosing the right partners to help us elevate the experience for our members and brokers.

“Luca’s expertise will be instrumental in helping us deliver Elevate to our broker partners and their clients — ensuring they benefit from clearer communication, stronger support, and a more personalised, value‐driven proposition.”
