WPA sees 1200pc increase in app usage

WPA has recorded a twelvefold increase in usage of its health app in the year to February.

As at 28 Feb 2021, there had been 268,652 WPA Health logins since the app was relaunched on 21 Nov 2019.

But the provider says usage has increased by a factor of 12 during lockdown as users have accessed remote GP access, health insurance claim authorisation, cash plan claims submission and claims tracking.

The app is currently developing livechat and automated uploading of cash plan receipts.

WPA paid two rebates last April and June during Covid to corporate and retail customers.  Each rebate was the equivalent of 40 per cent of a monthly premium. With the June rebate, a 40 year old customer with comprehensive cover living in Reading paying £82.99 a month received £35.

Brian Goodman, executive director – corporate, WPA said: “The evolution of the WPA Health App has been driven by the need to give customers choice, convenience and control without compromising service.  WPA’s customers now have the option to interact with WPA however they want, at any time of day or night.

“We receive record numbers of compliments each month and are the only health insurer to have paid rebates during Covid.”
