The number of people in the UK suffering symptoms associated with long Covid for more than a year has increased to more than 800,000, according to official figures.
Latest Office for National Statistics data revealed that as of 1 May there were 826,000 (42%) people with symptoms for at least one year, up from 791,000 in early April.
The number of people suffering long Covid symptoms for at least 12 weeks rose by a further 100,000 from 1.3 million to 1.4 million over the same period.
And overall, two million people had been suffering long Covid symptoms for more than four weeks, up from 1.8 million in early April.
Fatigue continued to be the most common symptom of long Covid reported by 55% of those with self-reported long Covid, followed by shortness of breath (32%), a cough (23%), and muscle ache (23%).
