Zurich has appointed Justin Delaney as CEO for Australia and New Zealand takings responsibility for its life and investments (L&I) and general insurance (GI) businesses the countries.
Delaney (pictured) is replacing Tim Plant, the current CEO of GI business in Australia and New Zealand, who has left to pursue an opportunity outside the Zurich group, the insurer said.
Plant is joining Insurance Australia Group (IAG) as chief insurance and strategy officer, according to reports in Australia.
Sean Walker, chief underwriting officer of GI in Australia and New Zealand, will support Delaney in managing the GI business.
Zurich APAC regional CEO Tulsi Naidu, said Delaney’s appointment ensured the company could operate seamlessly in the Australian market with a unified leadership team.
“In Justin, we are fortunate to have a strong leader who has extensive experience in the local insurance industry and a solid track record in delivering customer-centred innovation,” Naidu said.
“Sean has been with the Zurich business for more than 10 years, he has held a variety of market-facing, underwriting and leadership roles over the course of his career and is well placed to support Justin.
