Vicky Churcher has announced her retirement as intermediary director and business transformation lead at AIG Life.

Taking to LinkedIn to announce her news, Churcher revealed she will be stepping down at the end of the month after 30 “amazing” years in the protection sector.

She added she would be swapping “governance meetings for coffee mornings and document reviews for book club” and “may even squeeze in the odd bit of painting and pottery”.

Churcher thanked the “wonderful” work friends she has made over the years, adding a job wasn’t just a job for her and further revealing she would be around to support the AIG sales team until the end of June.

Churcher joined AIG Life from Ageas as head of sales and was also previously a national field sales manager at Bupa and business account manager at Allergan.

Phil Willcock, CEO at AIG Life, described Churcher as a “driving force in the protection industry” adding while she had won awards over her career, her proudest achievements were not industry plaudits.

“Over her 30 years in financial services she has been instrumental in developing the careers of a diverse group of people and I know it has given her great pleasure to watch them grow and go on to greater things,” Willock continued.

“I know how important it has been for Vicky to promote the role of senior women in our industry. She stands as a role model to many.

“I consider it a privilege to have worked with Vicky over the last few years. I will miss her when she moves on. Much of what this business has achieved over the last 10 years or so can be linked to her efforts,” he added.
