Bupa has extended its partnership with mental health platform JAAQ (Just Ask A Question) for 2024.

The extension sees the continued expansion of the firm’s mental wellbeing offering to customers by focusing on preventive healthcare.

JAAQ specialises in creating workplace engagement experiences, creating empathetic, conversations with world experts and celebrities.

Bupa is the exclusive health insurance partner of JAAQ for 2024 and the partnership brings together Bupa’s expertise in health and wellbeing with JAAQ’s engagement expertise.

The partnership aims to tackle the health engagement challenge through personalised, easy to understand, expert-led advice online, increasing access to clinical advice early, when needed via the JAAQ at work platform.

Bupa experts Dr Arun Thiyagarajan and Dr Samantha Wild already feature on the site talking about men’s health and women’s health and additional Bupa clinicians are set to provide comprehensive health information on a range of new topics over the coming months.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services will be a key focus for the Bupa and JAAQ partnership this year, providing mental health support to parents and empowering them to better understand their own and their children’s mental health.

The content will support businesses by enabling them to provide the tools and services needed to their workforce through difficult times in the family and creating resources for people managers who may be worried about how to support their team.

Other topic areas include dental anxiety and loneliness, with more set to come this year.

The JAAQ and Bupa content will be integrated into the Bupa Touch app for the first time later this year, allowing customers to access information easily and alongside all their other health and wellbeing services from Bupa provided within one app.

Within the JAAQ content on the app will be resources for Bupa customers such as Q&A style videos which aim to lay out information about Bupa’s products, services and policies in a straightforward, jargon-free way.

It will also continue the employee engagement programme, JAAQ at Work, for Bupa’s business customers and widen this to include Bupa employees.

Exclusive offering

The exclusive offering for Bupa business customers aims to boost employee engagement includes access to a customisable set of wellbeing services and tools for the workplace such as:

  • Brand new videos featuring Bupa experts designed to support a positive and resilient workplace culture, focusing on a range of health topics including family health and children and adolescent mental health
  • The opportunity to create bespoke video content based on specific employee needs
  • Advice for employees on accessing their health insurance policies and benefits, available on the Bupa website
  • Face to face employee engagement sessions with JAAQ: access to immersive sessions and inspirational speakers
  • The option to access exclusive content through the JAAQ At Work platform, with personalised experiences and tailored management information

Alex Perry, CEO, Bupa UK Insurance, (pictured) said: “These days so many people turn to social media for health advice, but it’s often hard to know what’s credible and can be trusted.

“Our clinical expertise alongside JAAQ’s engaging video technology means our customers can access this expert information in a clear, jargon-free way on a range of mental health topics which many may feel reluctant to speak about.

“This partnership is a key part of our preventive health focus to help our customers lead healthier, happier lives.”

Ryan Hopkins, JAAQ’ chief impact officer, added: “Our collaboration with Bupa is designed to produce tangible, significant impacts on individuals, organisations and society at large.

“We’re excited to continue our partnership with Bupa and bring their clinical expertise with our unique employee engagement platform to help as many people as possible engage proactively with their health and wellbeing.”
