Bupa is launching a guided care add-on option to its consumer Bupa By You and Bupa Fundamental products offering access to the insurer’s open referral network of specialists.
Once customers have an open referral from their GP detailing which type of specialist they need to see, Bupa offers them a choice of up to three consultants from its network.
“Customers can then make informed choices about their consultations and treatments,” Bupa said.
The insurer noted that all the consultants it offers them will meet cost and quality criteria, so it can guarantee that all costs will be covered and customers will not face any shortfalls.
“This new guided care option has been developed in response to customer needs, particularly in light of the Covid-19 pandemic,” Bupa said.
“It gives customers reassurance that they have fast access to diagnosis and treatment for critical conditions, such as cancer and mental health, as well as offering greater affordability.”
It added that all consultants in its open referral network offer care in line with medical best practice, a high standard of customer service, and manage the total cost of the care they deliver.
