Bupa UK Insurance is rolling out a suite of preventative and proactive wellbeing products and services to all its health insurance customers in a bid to help them stay healthy, identify potential risks earlier and take action towards better health.
From January 2024, Bupa customers will be able to access online health and wellbeing services including over 1,500 digital gym classes, fitness programmes such as pilates, yoga and high intensity interval training (HIIT), alongside mindfulness sessions and comprehensive wellbeing resources.
The services form part of Bupa’s ‘prevention revolution’ campaign, which promotes healthy behaviours and empowers people to take control of their health and will be available in the Bupa Touch app to all UK health insurance customers including consumers and businesses.
Bupa added it will be launching more propositions next year to complement its existing range of proactive health services, which currently includes its Family Mental Health and Menopause HealthLines, plus its Anytime HealthLine where customers can speak to a nurse 24/7.
Customers can also extend cover through Bupa Health Clinics’ Well Health services, which now includes a men’s sexual function plan, nutrition health, face-to-face GPs and enhanced cancer screening services, in addition to the menopause plan and fertility check.
These benefits can be integrated within a company’s private medical insurance (PMI) cover for an additional premium.
Dr Robin Clark, medical director for Bupa UK Insurance, said: “The future of healthcare is prevention. There’s a huge shift towards proactive healthcare strategies and a focus on wellbeing tools to reduce health issues first arising.
“Whether its managing stress, addressing mental health concerns or tackling musculoskeletal problems, people should be able to access support before problems escalate.
“It’s often small steps that can make a big difference when it comes to health and wellbeing.”
Alex Perry, CEO for Bupa UK Insurance, added: “Developing benefits to promote health and wellbeing alongside traditional health insurance benefits has become increasingly important to our customers.
“Our expanding suite of proactive health services will make it easier for people to stay on top of their everyday health, to help people live longer, healthier happier lives.”
