Cigna Healthcare has launched a platinum proposition to meet growing demand for more co-ordinated cross-border healthcare for globally mobile individuals.
The insurer said it was designed to simplify access to global healthcare for individuals.
This includes appointing a dedicated account manager serving as a single point of contact throughout the purchase and onboarding process.
Cigna Global Individual Health said the structured onboarding process was designed to help customers better understand and use their coverage and included an optional clinician consultation.
Access to global telehealth and Cigna Healthcare’s international provider network aimed to support faster access to care across multiple jurisdictions.
Customers can then receive round-the-clock guidance and support to help them access care and navigate healthcare systems wherever they are in the world, it added.
The insurer said the move reflected its research showing greater desire for more support from global citizens.
It found there were estimated to be up to 80 million global nomads across the world, which created healthcare challenges for people living or working in unfamiliar environments.
Almost three-quarters (73%) of globally mobile individuals wished they had received more support before relocating, while 76% experienced challenges that prevented them from thriving in their new country, according to Cigna’s International Health Study.
These challenges included the complexity of navigating local healthcare systems, thus creating a growing need for personalised support to help individuals access care across borders.

Cigna Global Individual Health chief executive Neil Kirby (pictured) said living and working across borders brought real challenges when it came to accessing and co-ordinating care.
“Platinum is designed to move beyond standard insurance, offering a more personalised, relationship‑led approach to global healthcare,“ he said.
“By combining dedicated support with clear guidance and care co-ordination, it provides customers with a trusted, single point of contact wherever they are in the world.
“For globally mobile individuals, it gives greater peace of mind, knowing they have someone to turn to when they need help understanding their healthcare options, accessing treatment or co-ordinating care in a different country.
“For employers, it strengthens the experience for globally mobile teams, supporting attraction and retention by making it easier for employees and their families to access and navigate care,” he added.
