The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is seeking to open a new office in Leeds as part of an expansion across the country.
This morning FCA CEO Nikhil Rathi revealed that the regulator plans to double its number of staff in Edinburgh to more than 200 over the next two years, to establish locations in other UK capitals in Cardiff and Belfast and is exploring the opening of an office in Leeds which would be home to 100 staff.
“We are engaging with the Bank of England and other partners on this project and hope to make significant progress by the end of next year,” Rathi said.
“As a national institution the FCA should not only reach out to but also reflect the whole of the United Kingdom.
“These measures will enable us to better reflect the people we serve and greatly expand our talent pool.”
It is understood the FCA is not planning any redundencies as a result of the changes.
