Freedom Health has expanded its diagnostic offering through the launch of a private X-ray and ultrasound scanning service for its Elite individual and group members.
Freedom Diagnostics is available from today and will be facilitated through Scan.com’s network of more than 300 imaging centres across the UK.
This is the latest service to be launched as part of the Freedom 360 health and wellbeing toolkit.
Freedom Diagnostics offers individual and group members private X-ray and ultrasound scans, with clear explanations of the results.
Eligible Elite plan members are referred to the service by a GP. X-rays are carried out by a consultant radiologist while a sonographer manages the ultrasound.
The insurer said a Scan.com clinician will explain the results in clear English and discuss possible next steps.
The member also receives a copy of the report to discuss with their own GP.
Freedom Health Insurance chief operating officer Hoosh Mires (pictured) said the insurer continues to develop products and services in response to changing healthcare needs.
“When someone needs a diagnostic scan, having a straightforward route to an appointment, clarity about what their results mean and support in understanding possible next steps can make the process easier to navigate,“ he said.
He added the insurer wants “Freedom 360 to continue evolving by introducing practical services that improve the experience of accessing private healthcare”.
Scan.com managing director Dr Lizzie Tuckey said getting a scan quickly can make all the difference to a patient’s care.
“Every day spent waiting is a day treatment is delayed,” she said.
“Our partnership with Freedom Health means their members can get a scan, a report and clear next steps in days rather than weeks, so they can get on with getting better, sooner.”
