Introducing… Migle Bielske, Five Star Mortgages

Migle Bielske, adviser at Five Star Mortgages, speaks to Health & Protection about breaking into protection through client advisory work, the importance of not shying away from difficult conversations and why having started in the sector she is now unstoppable.

How did you get your start in the sector?

I entered financial services through client‑facing advisory work, which quickly highlighted how exposed people can be when life doesn’t go to plan. That was what drew me to protection – helping clients understand risk and put safeguards in place before they’re needed, not after.

What do you enjoy most about your current role?

The trust clients place in me. Protection conversations are often emotional and deeply personal, but they’re also incredibly meaningful. Knowing I’ve helped someone feel more secure about their future is what makes the role so rewarding.

Who is your role model – in life or in work?

I admire people who combine integrity with empathy. In protection especially, the best advisers are those who stay human, listen carefully, and never forget the real people and families behind every recommendation.

What advice would you give to people thinking about a career in the sector?

Don’t shy away from difficult conversations. Protection advice isn’t about selling – it’s about listening, educating, and supporting people through topics many would rather avoid. If you care about people and are willing to keep learning, it’s an incredibly fulfilling career.

Do you see AI as a threat or opportunity for people entering the sector?

An opportunity. AI can support research and administration, but protection advice relies on judgement, empathy, and trust. Those human elements can’t be replaced, only enhanced.

What has been your biggest setback and how did you overcome it?

One of the biggest challenges has been engaging clients who initially didn’t see the value of protection. I overcame this by changing how I communicate and focusing less on products and more on real‑life outcomes and what protection truly means when it’s needed.

Laugh or cry – what did your most memorable client or case make you want to do and why?

Probably both. Some cases involve illness or major life changes, which can be emotionally tough. But when clients later tell you they’re grateful they had protection in place, it reinforces exactly why this work matters.

What’s your ultimate goal for your career?

To continue being a trusted adviser known for providing clear, ethical, and genuinely client‑focused protection advice, especially for those navigating complex personal or financial situations.

How would your boss describe you?

Reliable, thorough, and deeply client‑focused. Someone who takes responsibility and ensures nothing important is overlooked.

What’s your biggest talent away from work?

Problem‑solving. I have a natural detective mindset, balanced with a love of nature, paddle boarding, and reading books that support personal growth.

What mantra do you live by?

‘I’d rather take a risk and learn than regret not trying at all.’

What song would you regard as your theme tune?

Unstoppable – Sia. It reflects resilience, determination, and moving forward even when things feel challenging.
