The latest edition of The PMI Handbook for intermediaries seeking information on private medical insurance (PMI) plans in the UK has been published.
The handbook is compiled by Craigdallie Healthcare specialist PMI consultant Andrew Green and aims to help intermediaries keep informed on policies and providers.
It includes cover details on individual and group policies from more than 20 insurers. Each entry is colour-coded and contains cover comparisons, commission guides, contact details and points of note on each contract.
A glossary of the main medical terms is included as well as a contact list of International PMI providers.
The publication is suitable for intermediaries currently active in PMI and those wishing to enter the market.
Health & Protection subscribers receive a special 35% discount on the cost of the subscription. The book is published in paper and electronic format and is available through Craigdallie Publishing on (01444) 454849 or info@thepmihandbook.com.
Green noted that the 2023 edition has seen another year of product innovation in the market as demand for PMI continued to grow.
“Once again, the past year has seen the number of enquiries for PMI cover increasing as a result of the NHS waiting list backlog. This builds on the increasing number in the previous year,” Green said.
“We have seen continued product development across the industry with the digital health insurer, Peachy Health being the latest provider to enter the market.
“National Friendly has also introduced a new range of individual plans and Benenden Health has recently started to sell its group policy through the intermediary channel.
“With Equipsme and Zurich having also entered the market in recent times, we are set to see more innovation and new products in the future. This is a healthy sign for the industry because it extends the choice of policies for the customer.”
