Rapid growth in demand for private medical insurance (PMI) is encouraging for the sector but means new risks are emerging, participants in this Health & Protection roundtable in association with Vitality noted.
They raised concerns about practitioners choosing to focus on self-paying customers and the increasing use of services pushing premiums and squeezing availability.
However, the panel agreed there was a need to further educate consumers and employers about PMI and how they could use it to make the most of coverage and added benefits.
