The protection sector’s great Paralympics hope Jordanne Whiley has delivered on her dream of winning two medals at Tokyo 2020.
Whiley, a mortgage and protection adviser at Hearthstone Mortgages, won her first Paralympics wheelchair tennis singles medal today.
She secured bronze after defeating Aniek van Koot from the Netherlands 6-4 6-7 6-4 in a tussle that lasted more than two and a half hours.
Whiley and partner Lucy Shuker, who are seeded second, have also reached the wheelchair tennis doubles final to secure at least a silver medal.
They will play the top seeded Netherlands pair of van Koot and Diede de Groot tomorrow, with de Groot looking to add another gold to the one she won in the singles tournament.
At the end of July, Health & Protection spoke with Whiley, who is competing at this summer’s Paralympics having previously won bronze in the doubles events in Rio and London.
At the time, Whiley said she was seeking to medal in two events and bring home a medal in the singles event for the first time in Tokyo.
Earlier this summer she claimed her fifth Wimbledon doubles crown along with playing partner Yui Kamiji.
