Sneh Khemka has stepped down from his position as CEO of Simplyhealth after two years at the insurer for family reasons.
Khemka told Health & Protection: “I had a fantastic couple of years at Simplyhealth and I’m proud of what was achieved.
“The organisation now has the right strategy and culture to flourish, but I have unfortunately had to step away to give my attention to family matters, which is the priority for me right now.”
Chief financial officer Nick Potter has assumed the role of acting chief executive.
“We will undertake a thorough recruitment process and in the meantime Nick Potter will be acting chief executive,” Simplyhealth said.
“There is no change to the business, our strategy or purpose,” it added.
Oversaw significant change
Khemka (pictured) joined the business on 29 March 2021 having spent the previous seven and a half years at Aetna International as vice president of population health and VHealth.
Shortly after being appointed, Khemka told Health & Protection that his immediate aim was to modernise aspects of the business “especially as we move from analogue into digital channels”.
He also wanted to look at products and propositions and how they were distributed, including “more expansive products and solutions that go beyond cash plans and debt plans”.
During his time at Simplyhealth Khemka oversaw a significant change at the insurer including appointments of three product directors in newly created roles: Annie Coleridge as corporate product director; Quentin James as Denplan product director; and most recently, Tina Kennedy as consumer product director.
In November it unveiled a £60m venture capital fund which launched with an undisclosed investment in gynaecological health company Daye.
And Khemka also committed the organisation to prioritise B-Corp certified companies and other organisations with strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) values when handing out contracts.
