WPA will expand its LifeStage Health to include specialist care for men by July and will roll the product suite out to SMEs by the end of the year.

The product provides a dedicated range of gender and life-stage specific health benefits for women has reached 15,000 lives covered within its first six months.

It was launched in November to large corporate customers and includes essential checks, tests and access to experts in their respective fields to support women at each stage of their lives.

Conditions covered include period problems such as endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome, fertility, pregnancy and menopause, and benefit can be used for sexual health tests and cancer screening.

The insurer noted that employers were looking to match healthcare benefits to their overall corporate purpose, health and wellbeing strategies.

WPA head of product development Sharon Shier (pictured) noted that female health in the workplace was more than just the menopause, which the insurer was aiming to address with conditions that would not usually be covered by cash plans and private medical insurance (PMI) policies.

She added there had been demand to include the male workforce too.
