AIG Life has appointed Nick Austin as managing director of its individual protection business.

He will report to Phil Willcock, chief executive officer at AIG Life.

Austin (pictured) only joined the UK life insurance arm of Corebridge Financial, formerly AIG Life & Retirement, in January 2022 as head of pricing.

He has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services and business including 10 years at LV=, most notably as protection director up until the end of 2019.

He joined LV= in 2011 after a decade with HSBC holding a variety of roles including senior pricing manager for group insurance.

Late last week AIG Life’s intermediary director and business transformation lead Vicky Churcher broke the news she is set to retire at the end of the month.

Willock said: “I’m very excited to have Nick leading our individual business. His knowledge, experience and passion for the protection industry are vital in our ambitious growth plans, and in our goal of delivering excellence for our customers and protection industry partners.”

Austin added: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to lead the individual business as it embarks on its next phase of growth.”
